🌲🗡️ The Legend of the Lost Sword - Lochan Style! 🗡️🌲
Once upon a misty Highland morning, deep in the forest near Crianlarich, a young warrior named Fergus was tasked with guarding a sword so powerful it could split stone and summon thunder (or at least impress the neighbours).
But Fergus was also a bit... easily distracted.
While admiring his reflection in the lochan (as all great heroes do), he tripped, slipped, and—plop!—the mighty sword vanished into the peaty depths below. Legend says he dove in after it, only to be outwitted by the Kelpie—a shapeshifting water spirit who wasn’t about to give up such a shiny souvenir.
To this day, hikers passing the lochan say you can hear faint clinks from beneath the surface... or maybe it’s just Fergus still searching, muttering “I swear it was right here!”
So if you’re strolling past on the West Highland Way, keep an eye on the water. You might just spot a glint of metal—or get recruited by a ghostly warrior with terrible aim.
You can also make it a funny moment on your hike:
📸 Instagram tip: Pose dramatically by the water with a stick as your “sword” and caption it:
“Reporting live from the scene where Fergus lost the plot and the blade.”
Want a printable mini sign or storytelling card to go with it for a scrapbook or kids’ adventure game? Let me know!🗡️🌲
